Hidden leaf village is destroyed by Pain, one of Madara' subordinates. Captain Mitarashi conveyed a message from Hidden Leaf that Sai is to come home. Yamato rushed back to HL as Akatsuki attacked the village. Samui from Hidden Cloud, messenger for the Raikage, leader of Hidden Cloud, is to deliver a message to Hidden Leaf's Hokage. Lady Tsunade is still in coma and since Raikage needed a reply Samui had to hand over this letter to standing interim Hokage Danzo. Danzo has read the letter calling for emergency Five Kage Summit Conference. Then he declared Sasuke as rogue ninja has ordered to have him hunted down.
Danzo has been appointed by the Feudal Lords but has yet to win a vote of confidence from Jonin. Danzo recognizes that Naruto is a village hero and to win a vote of confidence he needs to treat Naruto well. He also knows that Naruto possesses Jinchuriki. Danzo orders Sai to survey and follow Naruto and with curse mark tattooed on Sai's tongue Sai will keep quiet about Danzo's intentions. Otherwise his body would become numb so he couldn't talk or move. Sai explains that Danzo and the foundation have done a lot of dirty work to protect the Hidden Leaf village. That is why it needs to be kept quiet.
Sasuke is tracked down by Madara. Taka has left Akatsuki so Sasuke and group of others think they're done with him. Madara accused Sasuke of reneging on his promised Sasuke made while back about hunting down Tailed Beast. Even though they have caught Eight-tails Madara needs them to catch Nine-tails and only then he would allow them to leave Akatsuki. Madara explains to Sasuke that Pain as his subordinate destroyed Hidden Leaf Village.
Three ninjas from Hidden Cloud are also asking about Sasuke. Apparently, Sasuke along with Akatsuki attacked Hidden Cloud village. Now, they have the permission to get rid of Uchiha. They asked about his powers and skills trying to learn as much as possible so they can effectively find Sasuke and avenge the death of Lord Killer Bee and Lady Yugito. Naruto understands the needs to avenge one's master. He explains that Killer Bee is also a Jinchuriki and as such would most likely still alive.
Akatsuki with Sasuke try to figure out what to do. Naruto defeated Pain? All by himself? Danzo is going to the Five Kage Summit and Sasuke wants his head. Madara is happy about convincing Sasuke to follow his plan to go to the summit. Nagato's Gedo Art of Rinne Rebirth was supposed to be used for Madara's benefit, not to betray him like Nagato by giving in to peace with Naruto. Madara has hopes for Sasuke to be even stronger and utterly more malicious than Nagato. He needs to watch him though. Madara is determined to take off his gloves and play hard with pushing forward on "project Tsuki no Me".
Naruto chooses to be beaten up rather than selling out Sasuke. Sasuke is still Hidden Leaf Ninja and Naruto will not betray his comrade. He also knows that hatred breeds more hatred and vicious circle of violence never ends.
Anko is being followed by Dajim and Tera. "Get Kabudo before Anko does" is the order of new interim Hokage Danzo. Kabudo may know about Danzo's connection to Orochimaru. Danzo tells his troops that Kabudo has research data from Orochimaru's human experiments. This Data must be obtained without fail. Terai is ordered to take care of Kabudo. Two allowed retainers Foo and Torune will follow Danzo to the summit. Precautions are made to make sure Nine-tails does not leave the village.
Sai learn about the precious bond that Sakura, Sasuke and Naruto have, when he stopped Karui from beating up Naruto. Naruto being attended by Sai thanked Sai and explained to Kakashi sensei and Yamato that he would want to talk to Danzo to try to convince him that Sasuke is not rogue and that he can be trusted.
Naruto also confesses to seing Forth Hokage when he helped sealing Jinchuriki inside him. Forth Hokage told him that a guy wearing Akatsuki mask instigated Nine-tails incident 16 years ago. It was Madara a mastermind of all evil. He was from Uchiha clan and left the village harboring all hatred. Only Madara was capable of summoning the Nine-Tails. Kakashi explained to Naruto who Madara was. A former leader of Uchiha clan of Hidden Leaf Village.
Kakashi new of encounters with late fathers as he himself talked to his father just a while ago. He asked Naruto what his father fourth Hokage told him. Naruto told him that his father believed in him. Kakashi decided that Naruto should go to see Raikage and tell him about Sasuke.
