Strength and endurance are essential for sports and required for everyday activities such as carrying groceries, moving furniture, and even gardening. Without adequate strength, daily chores that we take for granted can be hard to do. Many people lose muscle and strength with age. Most of this loss is due to inactivity and when inactive people grow older several things happen. Exercise tolerance declines, your body fat increases, your muscles decrease in size and become weaker, and bone thickness decreases. These changes make simple tasks difficult and increase the risk of injury.
