Just as Intel is muscling in on the smartphone market with its long-overdue Medfield Atom chips, Qualcomm is attempting to strike back at the x86 territory, so long domnated by Intel. Qualcomm Snapdragon processor is currently the processor of choice in more than 300 handsets and tablets, and will soon be seen in another 300, but Windows 8's support for ARM architecture has led Qualcomm to switch its focus to the lucrative ultrabook market.
