A "Pony Car" made by Chevrolet ( A division of GM motors) in North america. Introduced on September 1966 frop 1967 to compete with the other "Best" muscle car the Ford Mustang. This card shared a lot from the Pontiac Firebird, from its platform to it majors components. Its name, who had no meaning like the Shelby, was derived from a French dictionary which means "Friend", "Copanion" or "Chum". So if a french called you a Camaro with their slang voice, you shouldn't be offended. Press release back then gave the name "Panther" but the project name of it was Chevrolet XP-836 and some photos labeled it as "Chaparral". When the press asked some Chevy people what a Camaro is, they were answered "it is a small animal that eats MUSTANGS". "Camar" instantly fits Chevy with its list of "C" named cars (e.g. Chevelle, Corvette, Corvair, Chevy).
