Apple and its manufacturing partner Foxconn are rumored to be sharing the expense of bettering work conditions for employees in Foxconn's Chinese factories. Foxconn recently held a ceremony for its new Chinese headquarters, based in Shanghai, where a spokesman for the company said that improving factory conditions was 'a competitive strength, not a cost.'

HP has entered the world of ultrabooks with its HP Folio 13.3-inch ultrabook in winter. HP has now released its first business-oriented ultrabook in the form of the EliteBook Folio.

Fujitsu has unveiled a new Lifebook notebook, which the Tokyo-based company is marketing as 'symphony at your fingertips'. The Fujitsu LH772 features an unusual 'rounded profile' based on the Zakumi philosophy, offering a levelled wristrest, spill-resistant scrabble-tile keyboard with two-toned keys, a circular scroll wheel, and an 'intelligent ' touchpad, presumably which can discriminate between deliberate touches and accidental brushes of the wrists or thumbs when typing.

Samsung's broad range of smartphones, phablets and tablets could soon be joined by a new form factor - a dual screen tablet.
A recently unveiled patent shows Samsung may be planning to extend its 7-inch Galaxy Tab series with a device similar to the dual-display Sony Tablet P, with a hinge linking the two panels, and which is alrady in stores.

MeeGo was recently re-packaged as Tizen, an open-source operating system backed by both Intel and Samsung. Now the Tizen OS has been released as version 1.0, codenamed Larkspur, and will feature a new SDK to accompany the release so that devs can get up to speed with the revised OS.
The Ivy Bridge upgrade constitutes a 'tick' in Intel's tick-tock roadmap, meaning a shrinking of the die rather than an overhaul of the architecture. So it's basically a 22nm version of the last generation Sandy Bridge 32nm CPUs, though Intel is keen to stress there is more to the new Ivy Bridge range than a simple miniaturization of the manufacturing process.
